We are all quite familiar with the term at the present time. However, it is not a virus that will spread to humans like the corona virus, nor is it a microorganism that will spread to animals.
So what kind of virus is it again? After reading the title, you must have understood that no virus is being talked about here! - Yes; Here we are talking about computer virus. So, what is computer virus??
Many of us know more or less about the current computer virus, but we don't know much about it. In today's world computer systems have brought a lot of success for technology which is a matter of great pride. We use computers at every level of our daily lives. We spread ourselves through various social media including Google, Facebook, Email, Twitter, YouTube.
We also visit different websites for different tasks or needs. But often we accidentally or unknowingly visit a few wrong websites or receive mails from a few strangers that open our computer at risk of viruses.
There are also viruses that are considered to be the most deadly computer viruses so far because the viruses have caused billions of dollars in damage to the world so far. There are some notable viruses in it that are not known to the relationship.
1. The Melissa Virus
The virus is a type of e-mail virus that was first released on March 26, 1999. The virus later spread via e-mail. In this case a mail will come to the receiver where it will be written “Here is the document you asked for… don’t show anyone else”. Then if you open the document, the virus will immediately infect your computer or laptop. Another thing is that whenever you open a document, the virus will automatically copy the document to the address of the first 50 people in your e-mail address book and send it to their address.
However, people who use "Microsoft Outlook 97" or "Microsoft Word 2000" are more likely to be attacked by this virus. The discoverer of the virus was found in New Jersey, USA, named "David L. Smith". He was sentenced to 20 months in prison and fined 5,000 for the crime. About 60 million was lost within an hour of the virus's release.
2. I Love You Virus
It's a lot like the Melissa virus. It also comes via e-mail and infects the device. In this case, when the attachment of the virus comes in the e-mail, it will be written "I Love You" in the subject. If you open the mail later, there will be a document. For example, there will be an attachment called "Love-Letter-For-You.txt" which when clicked, the virus will copy everyone's email address located in your e-mail address book and the attachment will automatically go to everyone's address.
The virus is a type of "VBS" or "Visual Basic Scripts" that provides new instructions to computer programs. So if you do not have a backup copy of your files / documents will have to face a lot of losses. The virus damaged about 45 million computers as well as ১০ 10 billion in just two days. An Internet breakdown occurred at 8:00 am (Greenwich Mean Time) on January 25, 2003, which resulted in the loss of Internet and cell phone services in South Korea, as well as an estimated 300,000 people in Portugal.
3.Chernobyl Virus
This computer virus is also known as ‘CIH’. The virus caused severe damage to Windows 95, 98. The virus was created to infect the "Microsoft Windows based operating system". The Chernobyl virus affects the computer's BIOS, the Basic Input / Output System (BIOS), causing many important program files to be destroyed.
Surprisingly, the virus was coincidentally discovered in 1998, the 13th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, from which the name of the virus originated. The Chernobyl virus spread through the "Portable Executable" file formats to the "Windows 9x-based operating system", namely Windows 95, 98 and ME.
4. Code Red
Code Red is a computer worm or malware program that enters a computer system by making copies of itself. The malware was first spotted on the Internet on July 15, 2001. It also comes via e-mail and is sent to a document / file. As soon as the file is opened, the malware spreads to the computer which is known as ‘Buffer Overflow’.
The malware for ‘Buffer Overflow’ cum automatically creates the longest line of ‘N’ characters on the computer. Malware spreads through this process. Kenneth D. was the first to discover how to block this malware. A man named Aichman. For this discover he was invited to the White House.
These viruses have caused billions of dollars in damage to millions of computers and caused confusion among humans. Not only these viruses, there are many more viruses that are very dangerous.
So I will say one thing for the purpose of our present generation and that is that it is better not to enter unnecessary websites or any links. Besides, it may be better for your computer not to click on the document or attachment of the mail from a stranger.
